Features On Top Of Features: Pink Ribbon

The Malibu Boats mission statement begins with "Build the best boat..." and continues with "...for a fair price..." To fulfill this pledge Malibu builds innovation and technology into the boats as standard features. This is how they honor their commitment to excellence and to their family of owners. "The best boat for a fair price" pledge is fulfilled with standard features like 21 available colors. You can choose almost any combination of these gel coats to create your custom Malibu boat.

The custom color dearest to our heart is Pink Ribbon. Pink Ribbon was adopted as a choice on the Malibu Boats custom color palette. We made this addition in memory of beloved Malibu family members who have been lost to cancer and as a tribute to those who continue to battle the disease.

Boating and Good Friends Help Heal.

Sure boating and water sports are fun and we have seen these hobbies bring families closer, but can these pastimes actually help heal? The Whittet Family is an example of Malibu boat owners who are looking for togetherness on the boat to help their healing process. The Whittets' son Zach passed away in a car accident earlier this year. Together with their friends at the Ski Shack, Greg, Jolie Ann and their six-year-old daughter are throwing themselves into the activity that brought Zach and the entire family so much joy, prior to his death.

The Whittet family was new to water sports in 2002. It was during this time they purchased a Malibu boat from the Ski Shack and became a wakeboarding family. There was no one in their family more profoundly affected by their purchase than their son, Zach. He spent every summer since that time wakeboarding. It became his passion and in turn brought the family closer together.

"It [wakeboarding] became the defining nature of their family." Recalled Greg Mustain, owner of the Ski Shack and close Whittet family friend.

Danica is to Racing Like Dallas is to Wakeboarding

When I heard about Danica Patrick becoming the first woman in history to win an IndyCar race, it reminded me of another pioneering woman in the world of action sports, Dallas Friday. You may not hear about her accomplishments on Good Morning America, but she has been making history in water sports for the last eight years. She is the most successful female athlete our industry has ever seen both on and of the water. She dominates her discipline like no other.

Randall Harris's Boat Makes Him Better

Team Malibu Factory Rider, and wakeboarding legend, Randall Harris recently was the subject of a short video clip put together by Alliance Magazine. In this video, Randall showcases his riding as well as the wakeboard boat he rides behind. Randall chooses the Malibu Wakesetter VLX.

The Vandall, as he is known, talks about the Malibu Launch System (MLS). He likes the ease of use our ballast system offers. But most of all he is crazy about the wake his Wakesetter VLX produces. Take a look at this video and Randall's amazing riding. You'll find out why.

We won't tell you your call is important to us.

Automated phone systems, everybody's got one. You call into just about any company, small or large, and that call is greeted by a prerecorded or synthesized voice chanting, "Your call is important to us..." This mantra is repeated at 2-3 minute intervals until a live human being can answer the phone.

That's not the way we do it at Malibu. Instead of trying to convince you that your call is important to us by saying it to you over and over we go a different way. We show you. We make you feel your importance to us by respecting the time you have taken to call us and actually answering the phone ourselves.

Test Drive Our Competitors... Please!

I came across a thread on TheMalibuCrew.com this morning. It was initiated by a new site member, which makes it even more powerful in my mind. This new member recently test drove a Mastercraft XStar and a Malibu Waksetter VLX. He detailed his findings in this post.

At Malibu we always encourage individuals who are contemplating a Malibu boat purchase to test drive our competitors. More often than not, this exercise cements the decision for them and the process is completely objective.

Malibu's Teed Off and Not Taking It Anymore

Everyone and all organizations alike have been affected by cancer in some way and ,unfortunately, Malibu Boats is no exception. We have lost two members of our family, Becky Sewell and Kathy Anderson to their battles with cancer, but we refuse to loose the fight. These women inspired Malibu as a company to raise money for the American Cancer Society. So every year since their passing we have raised money for the Relay For life. Fund raising efforts have ranged from dunk tanks to Relay For Life teams to selling hot dogs in the factories at lunch. One of the most successful events is our annual golf tournament, which took place this past Saturday.

We teed it up to fight cancer at Rancho Del Ray golf course in Atwater, California. 39 teams, 156 people, participated in the 4th Annual Malibu Boats Relay For Life Golf Tournament.

2008 Sunscape 23 LSV

The 2008 Sunscape 23 LSV from Malibu Boats represents an evolutionary breakthrough in boat design. The deck and newly tooled Diamond hull were modeled from scratch in a 3D environment. All shapes and angles were rethought with the goal of perfect handling and smooth ride in mind. The result is a 23-foot boat that welcomes rough water, intuitively responds to a touch of the steering wheel and hosts luxurious amenities.

The exterior follows the sharp look of the intimidating 247 LSV with the addition of the new Frameless-Vented Windshield. But the advanced hull design of the Sunscape 23 LSV offers performance, all its own.

To read more about the 2008 Sunscape 23 LSV from Malibu Boats visit the April issue of the Malibu Review E-newsletter.

Malibu Mourns Loss of Emily Clothier

Emily Clothier, the 14-year-old daughter of the Western Malibu Boats Sales Manager, Steve Clothier, died Thursday after a snow skiing accident in Lake Tahoe.

Emily was a competitive ski racer and was practicing with her coach when she veered off the trail and hit a tree. She was wearing a helmet and was treated at the scene and then flown to Barton Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Emily was a freshman at South Tahoe High and was a member of the school's ski team. She helped the team to a second-place finish at the NIAA State Skiing Championships earlier this month at Mount Rose. She also was a key runner on the freshman cross-country team, helping the Vikings to a ninth-place finish at the Woodbridge Invitational last September.

Malibu Dealers to Demonstrate the Difference on the Water

Malibu Boats is sponsoring a nation-wide demo day, April 26th, 2008.

Dealers plan to put their Malibu boats where their mouths are across the nation on April 26th. These dealers are sharing the Malibu Difference and exposing boaters to 2008 models. At these events Malibu dealers will demonstrate what the tag line “Pushing Limits” really means. Attendees will have the opportunity to dial-in a custom wake with Rider Presets, meet the massive wakes kicked up by the Patented Power Wedge as well as experience every other innovation offered in the 2008 Malibu line. Talking about six consecutive Boat of the Year Awards might be good enough for some manufacturers, but Malibu Boats is proving their dominance one boater at a time.

People: Live Life in Canada's Northwest Territories with Dean Freistadt

Dean Freistadt calls Yellowknife in Canada’s Northwest Territories his home and a Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV his boat. In a Canadian territory spanning 440,479 sq mi with a meager population of 41,464 Dean isn’t worried about room for his huge 24’ 7” Malibu boat. In fact, the size is one of his favorite aspects of the boat.

“My 247 is the biggest tournament boat north of 60 [the 60th parallel],” Dean states proudly. “It's quite a head-turner but the real wow factor is its size.”

Tips: Launching Your Malibu Boat

When you are backing your trailer into the water, your depth is very important. If the boat is too shallow it will not float off the trailer. If it is too deep, damage can occur to the boat. A good rule is to have a small portion of the front of the trailer fenders visible above the water.

Watch a YouTube video illustrating the Malibu Launching Technique.

Features On Top of Features: Shift-by-wire Throttle System

The Malibu Boats mission statement begins with "Build the best boat..." and continues with "...for a fair price..." To fulfill this pledge Malibu builds innovation and technology into the boats as standard features. This is how they honor their commitment to excellence and to their family of owners. In 2008 “the best boat for a fair price” pledge has been fulfilled with new standard features like the Shift-by-wire Throttle System.

The precise control of electronic shifting adds value to almost every new Malibu boat by providing users the benefit of a shorter throttle throw and a new push-button Neutral Lock. Ultimately this new feature gives the driver more control, especially in slow-speed maneuvering situations.

2008 Wakesetter 23 LSV & 23 XTi

Malibu’s advanced hull design has created a precise collision of ride, handling and wakeboard performance in the 2008 Wakesetter 23 LSV and Wakesetter 23 XTi. These redesigned 23-footers sport a completely new hull, deck, interior and feature set. These upgrades create the perfect combination of performance and accommodation for 14.

The exterior of these two models follows the sharp look of the intimidating 247 LSV with the addition of the new Frameless-Vented Windshield. This predatory stature comes across in a glance, but there’s purpose behind each aggressive line.
