      <title>Does Living in Flats improve people's Interaction ?</title>
      <description>
If grandparents are not staying with the family, the kids develop grandparental attachment/affection with the aged people living in the next-door flats. Success of the children of the flats is celebrated by the entire housing complex. Married daughters coming back home after a long gap are greeted by the residents of the entire locality by extending invitation for tea or refreshments.

      <title>My Rakhi Brother</title>
      <description>
I thought that in case he is located near my residence I may utilize his services whenever need arises. It transpired that he is stationed at New market (far off from my place) and got my offer after dropping a passenger. He is from a Muslim community. His name is “Sajid”.

      <title>Planting Trees</title>
      <description>
Trees even find mention in religious scriptures. In Chapter 10 of Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna “Of all the trees of the forest I am Asvattha, the Pipala tree”. Decoration of Christmas tree is a part of celebration of Christmas festival. Bodhi Tree finds mention in Buddhism. In fact “Tree-Planting” should be our first and foremost duty to the Mother Earth.

      <title>Hanseshwari Temple : A Marvel of Architecture</title>
      <description>
Even the Deity has been designed and installed following the concept of Yoga and Pranayam. The word “ Hong” is pronounced at the time of breathing out whereas the word “S-a-a” is uttered at the time of breathing in. “Hong” manifests “Shiva” and “S-a-a” represents “Mother Shakti”. The temple has both the Deities of Shiva and Shakti and hence the name is “Hansheswari”. On the top of thousand petals blue lotus, lies the eight petals blood-red lotus.

      <title>Bandel Church - A Wonder Relic</title>
      <description>
A ship’s mast stands in font of the Church. This was presented to the Church by the Captain of a vessel. It is said that the ship encountered a storm in the Bay of Bengal and its rescue was attributed to Mary. The Church has three altars, several tombstones, an organ, a wide cemented layout, a beautiful garden with blooming flowers and greeneries and a Shrine to Mary.

      <title>Maihar Darshan</title>
      <description>
One may wonder that climbing up 1063 steps must be very tiring. In fact it is not so. The steps are lower in height except about 50 stairs towards the top which are steep. The place is well lighted having overhead roof all through so as to protect the pilgrims from Sun and rain. The stairs have railings on both sides providing support to the climbers. In between there are benches where the pilgrims could rest a while instead of climbing up the stairs in one go.

      <title>Visit To Chandannagar : A Travelogue</title>
      <description>
One more plausible reason behind the name could be that in Chandannagar there is a temple of Goddess 'Chandi'. So somebody believes that it might come from there. But earlier people knew the place by the name 'Farasdanga' as it was a French colony. The place was also known for considerable maritime trade. For some time, Chandannagar was the main center for European commerce in Bengal.

      <title>Friendship with Birds and Insects</title>
      <description>
One more class of friends I have recently come across is large species of black ants. Whatever sweet candies are offered to our Deity as a daily ritual of our worship in the morning, these ants come from nowhere, cover the plates and nibble the same. After sometime when I try to pick up these sweet candies, strangely enough they will go away with my slightest touch but never make an attempt to bite me.

      <title>Lost in Rome</title>
      <description>
During one such trip, I boarded a bus for going back to the hotel after close of the meeting. While enjoying the outside scenario from the moving vehicle I was getting little apprehensive about the route of the bus journey. By chance a gentleman resembling persons of Asian Subcontinent was also travelling by the same bus. On showing the address of the hotel as inscribed in the card given to me by the Front Office Manager, the gentleman informed me that I was travelling in the opposite direction. The hotel was far off from that place. It was getting dark.

      <title>Adversity Begets Strength</title>
      <description>
In her life Rati could not complete her education as she lost her parents at young age. She therefore developed the determination to educate her daughters within the limited resources available to her. The eldest one, Meena, had the knack and aptitude for learning. One by one she could successfully complete school, college and University education and earned her Post-graduate degree. Other two daughters were not so good at studies. Despite best efforts and inspiration of their mother, they could complete education only upto middle level.
