Jordan Banks Wins RD3 Deerdale Off Road

The S8TX V2 Does it again in the hands of young Jordan Banks. Round 3 of the Deerdale Off Road Summer Series was held this past weekend and Jordan did not disappoint and took the win yet again. Jordan now has a demanding lead in the championship table. After a good qualifying session Jordan Banks qualified 2nd with Jason Cook taking TQ also running the V2 S8TX! the final was looking promising with 2 cars in the top 3!

The finals got under way before the rain began to start!, Jordan Banks took control of the race after a few laps and did not look back taking a very well deserved win with Jason Cook finishing in 3rd, yet another awesome result for the SMD drivers using the LRP S8TX V2 UK Team Edition Truggy.

S8TX-V2 Takes 1st &3rd @ Rd2 UK Truggy Pro

A brilliant days racing was had at the 2nd round of the UK Truggy Pro Series at Deerdale Off Road Club. The Astro surfaced track held up well to the Lightning storm and the deluge of rain that hit in the morning! A super effort from all to clear the standing water, dig drains, and prep the track before racing started. 2 rounds of qualifying made things difficult for all drivers, coupled with the damp track conditions things looked interesting. LRP drivers Joe Joyce, Stan Gill, Steven Bond, Jordan Banks, Jack Laws all running the new S8TX V2 UK Team Edition Truggy were up for the challenge.

Boots-ylicious @ Nitrocross Cup - NeoBuggy

RMV Deutschland together with Mugen EU held the first Mugen Seiki Nitrocross Cup at the Stoppelhopser Oberhausen e.V track, north of Dusseldorf this weekend. Weather looks to have been pretty good, Feldmann TQ'd after a battle with Boots, and the event is well supported by RB, Mugen Seiki Europe and RMV. The final saw Boots lay down the law as he dominated for the entire one-hour final. Local world champion Feldmann had to settle for 2nd best, whilst young Alexander Hardt took 3rd.

Union Square GP

The UK ’s first indoor shopping centre race kicked off at the fantastic Union Square venue in Aberdeen , Scotland on 17th and 18th of April.

This event was a first for the BRCA and Dan Rowland’s and his team had worked tirelessly to bring the event together and had some fantastic extra special treats lined up for divers who were to compete.

I had just been sent the new LRP SXX stock spec ecs and the new 50c 5900 that definately gave me a edge going into the racing, I was very impressed with the LRP ecs it was very easy to use and definately had the edge over other speed controller manufactors. I also found that the new lipo gave some awesum punch that helped my car alot throughout the racing.

Jared Tebo wins all 3 modified classes at Winter Indoor Championships.

St. Charles, Missouri was the location for the first annual Winter Indoor Nationals. It was cold outside but warm inside the SmacTrac facility as practice started Friday with drivers coming from all over to test the new track layout. It was apparent in practice that the track layout was a challenge, especially the split lane in the center of the track.

The separation of the split lane provided many drivers the opportunity to showcase their best driving tricks and stunts as the narrow lane sometimes provided the ultimate test of control in a narrow space. By weekends end everyone looked comfortable and everyone just remembered, when in doubt steer a little to the left.

194 entries made this first annual event a smashing success. Local drivers Rod Rippee, Chris Baumgartner and Matt Gosch were always hospitable to everyone traveling from out of the area providing a much needed personal touch whenever necessary. SmacTrac snacks and Wayne Snider made sure everyone was fed with the most interestingly named food.

The hot tire setup at SmacTrac was the Blue Compound Bar Codes all the way around. The only question was full tread or partial tread.

After switching back and forth several times the locals went with partical tread and the out of towners were enjoying success on full tread. Either way, tire wear and traction was not an issue. One set of tires was all that was needed for the weekend.

SXX Stock Spec Dominates the Snowbirds Nationals in the US!

The new SXX Stock Spec impressed everybody at the Snowbirds and took a double victory by Hupo Hönigl!
The all new LRP SXX Stock Spec speedo continues to impress. After its very successful debut at the DHI Cup in January, where the SXX Stock Spec dominated the field it was now time for the speed control to make its first huge impact on the US racing scene.

The 15th edition of the very popular and annual Snowbirds Nationals took place in the sunshine state Florida, US. As always, the Snowbirds attracted a huge amount of entries as it is regarded as one of the biggest and most prestigious events in the world. The Snowbirds are also famous for their special 24 hour around the clock racing format, with the event split in both onroad and oval racing action.

LRP factory driver Hupo Hönigl crossed the Atlantic to attend the Snowbirds as well as represent the LRP colours by using the brand new SXX Stock Spec speed control in the classes World GT and 1/12th 10.5T GTP.

Hupo Hönigl impressed by his outstanding performance which saw Hupo winning both the World GT and 1/12th 10.5T GTP titles in style with the SXX Stock Spec speed control. Congratulations Hupo Hönigl!

From Oople.. Tamworth was the venue for the fourth round of the 2009/2010 BRCA Micro off-road National series. The track was laid out during the morning over the carpet which had been used for 12th scales and the like the previous evening.

A quick drivers briefing was called at around 9:50am with a quick BRCA official meeting with a new rule proposed and passed within seconds - who said Micro stuff was slow? nah! Racing got underway at 11am with two heats of 2WD buggies & trucks kicking things off, followed by 7 heats of the more established 4WD vehicles.

Click Title to Read More...

LRP CUP Round 1 – Marston Model Car Club

SMD driver Chris Clark wins RD1 of the LRP Cup. Round 1 of the popular LRP Cup was the firs chance for me to run the new X12 10.5 stock motor along with the new LRP VTEC CPX control tire. This tire has been designed with carpet racing more in mind than tarmac. Initial impression of the tire before running it is the rim leaves a little to be desired from an aesthetic point of view, there are a semi translucent grey plastic. On the plus side the rim seems to go higher up the sidewall giving the effect of a lower profile tire, I assume the thinking behind this is an attempt to reduce potential grip role.

In the first round of practice the tires proved very consistent even with the low grip track. As the grip came up through the day there was not even a hint of the car traction rolling which gave the confidence to attack the track. Having never been to the Marston club before I was place in the bottom 10.5 qualifying heat. This caused a few issues when it came to putting in a really consistent run, due to the difference of out and out pace. Never the less I set about Q1 managing 5th overall. Q2 was a little more productive due to the consideration of the other cars in my heat allowing me through when appropriate. Lining up 2nd behind Simon Willets but still 9 seconds behind, but with a fastest lap 0.1 seconds faster gave me confidence FTD was possible. Alas this was not possible the last round of qualifying showed some good performances from Zak Smith and David Ward put me down to 5th at the end of qualifying.

Click Title to Read More...

JConcepts and Ryan Maifield, JR Mitch and JP Richards win at 2009 Clash.

The 3rd annual JConcepts Clash kicked off at Lake Park in Lutz, Florida and the competition was hot and heavy as drivers from all over came to the hottest off-road event in Florida 3 years running. The event started off very slowly with consistent rain on Thursday, severely limiting the practice on the quick and technical track layout. As Friday came, the rains and weather disappeared but the conditions were still rather damp and the usually high bite surface was now a slick groove.

Friday morning, drivers were eager to practice and attacked the track trying to find the hottest driving lines and setups. JConcepts tires, wheels, bodies and accessories had the hot hand all weekend as JR Mitch started things off with in the Modified Truck class with TQ and placing his T4 truck in the prime position for the A-main. Although a control tire race in the 1/10th modified classes, Jared Tebo and JR Mitch TQ’ed the 2wd modified, 4wd modified and truck modified classes running the Double Dees combination.

Click Title to Read More...
