The G2 Gallery Presents “Beautiful Gardens for a Dry Place”

Garden Talk Will Cover the Principles of Sustainable Garden Design For Drought Prone Climates on Thursday, January 21 at 7pm

Venice, CA – On Thursday, January 21, 2010, at 7:00 p.m., The G2 Gallery will present “Beautiful Gardens for a Dry Place,” a talk on sustainable garden design given by Alison Hurst, principal designer and owner of Grow Garden Design. The State of California is in the midst of a severe drought that has been ongoing for 3 years. A specialist drought tolerant garden designs, Alison will dispel the myth that dry gardens are harsh and barren, and discuss the many benefits of gardens that are sustainable and incorporate a true sense of place in our desert by the sea.

Inspired by the artiststry of the unconventional and iconic Derek Jarman Garden in Dungeness, Kent in her home country of England, Alison began investigating the dry garden concept more than 15 years ago. The same principles that applied to the difficult climate of Dungeness are transferable to Southern California’s landscape. “Beautiful Gardens for a Dry Place” will be the first in The G2 Gallery’s Garden Lecture Series in the run up to Where the Wild Things Grow, a comprehensive exhibition on trees, flowers, wetlands and forests, opening March 23, 2010.

Location
The G2 Gallery (www.theg2gallery.com)
1503 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291-3742
Tel. 310.452.2842, E-mail info@theg2gallery.com

About The G2 Gallery
Established in March 2008, the G2 Gallery in Venice, California, is a green art space with a dedicated focus on contemporary nature and wildlife photography. In keeping with G2’s commitment to supporting arts and the environment, the gallery presents exhibitions with eco-conscious themes, donating the proceeds from all art sales to environmental charities and hosts free concerts and lectures that bring awareness of critical issues to our community.
