The Cognitive Process that Underlie Learning

I recently gave a lecture at La Salle University in Barcelona, Spain to discuss the international, online MBA program we are creating. I talked about how the program will develop students' cognitive processes and teach them to think while they are engaged in realistic, learn-by-doing scenarios that will prepare them for the business world.

The Alternative Learning Place

Milo, my grandson, will enter first grade in September 2011. I find this news so frightening I hardly know where to start. It is time for me to start building an alternative. We will construct an online First Grade curriculum. It will be an Alternative Learning Place (ALP), housed wherever we can find the space. The ALP day will focus around projects and activities and will, of course, all be learning by doing. New Alternative High School

Roger Schank and Engines for Education are proud to announce the formation of the world�s first alternative online, learn by doing, high school. This is a four-year high school where only one curriculum is followed each year. Students will be admitted into this curriculum in September, 2010. The book is about how oganizing school around 16 cognitive process rather than around academic subjects can help our children get more out of education.
