It does not require an announcement to the world of their internal worth, but instead we are able to see it and feel it whenever we’re in their presence.

The following are 10 ways, laws, pathways and directions that I have observed of people who live a life of integrity:

#1. -They live by Values and not by Volume.

Whatever a person values in life is what they will direct their energies towards and pay more attention to. So instead of saying “I love my spouse” which is volume, one can see the love in the way one spouse treats the other and vice versa. Thus people with integrity live by their values and not by the volume of their words.

So instead of shouting in church, “I Love the Lord,” one can see the love in the way they treat others; take time to mentor young people; give an encouraging word or a friendly smile to those who society has deemed to be the least of these.

READ FULL TEXT OF "INTEGRITY" HERE

Davis
www.herndondavis.com

We can no allow America’s political pendulum to be influenced by the fickle tastes of voters in the states of Iowa and New Hampshire. It’s more tradition than an actual mirroring of America reflection that we hold these states as the ideal testing ground in taking America’s political temperature.

Although both states may reflect a cross-section of economic and social classes they are both sorely lacking the ethnic diversity that the rest of the nation is rapidly experiencing. Below are racial and ethnic demographics that strongly suggest a reexamination of the importance of Iowan and New Hampshire:

READ FULL COMMENTARY HERE

Labels: Barack Obama, hillary clinton, Iowa Caucus, John Edwards, New Hamphire Primary, racial and ethnic diversity, voting patters

From current fashion trends to the way we feel politically and even spiritually, the media has a powerful influence upon the thoughts, voting patterns and the everyday belief systems that we as a nation hold personally and publicly

And because of that crucial reason we as citizen journalists must learn how to interject our voices, our works and our messages into the discourse and consciousness of a seemingly brain dead society.

READ ENTIRE COMMENTARY ABOUT THE MEDIA HERE

VIEW MY VIDEO BLOG ABOUT THE MEDIA HERE

Labels: diversity, immigration politics, media, religion, spirituality, voting

Herndon's Summer Readling List 2007

I've chosen six diverse books for my personal reading pleasure for the summer. They range in storylines from the epiphany that occurs after bank robbery attempt; faith in America from 4 different perspectives; the thrilling hunt for a serial killer; life for a 12 year old Japanese girl in an interment camp after the Pearl Harbor invasion; and the 17,000 year old history of Native Americans. Tell me what you think!

Faith Club, The Messiah, In The Hands of the Great Spirit, Weedflower, The Gospel of Inclusion,That Moment When.

Street Beggars Test the Christ In All Of Us

Another major problem that I see in relation to poverty and the rising rates of homelessness is panhandling. They’re the street beggars who stand on the corners, at traffic intersections, in front of stores and near churches and badger those who pass by for change or food.

Dealing with street beggars truly tests the Christ in me. Am I a bad person if I don’t give?
Rethinking American Culture

Much has occurred over the past few days and week. The shooting massacre at Virginia Tech renewed concerns of domestic violence, gun control and man’s inhumanity to man.

It was just days ago that the nation was embroiled in the Don Imus “nappy-headed ho” controversy along with the “bitch-ho” culture that rappers and hip hop artists have cultivated over the past 20 plus years.

Obama's Fundraising Total Impressive But Can He Maintain?

Sen. Barack Obama’s $25 million dollar fundraising fete was impressive but maintaining and growing his vast supporter base will be difficult and most likely will fizzle by the start of next year’s primaries for two reasons.

First, Obama’s greatest strengths which are his relative youth, fierce utilization of technology, and his charismatic style will eventually begin to plateau by the end of the third quarter going into 2008. Similar to a bell shape curve from a college statistics course, Obama’s fundraising prowess and novelty will see a slow but steady decline, putting him on par with Clinton and Edwards, popularity wise.

Millions Raised Still Can't Buy Hillary Charisma

Despite the wealth of her political connections evident by $26 million dollars raised during the first quarter of the year, Senator Hillary Clinton still seemingly lacks the passionate charisma of Barack Obama and the energetic earnest of John Edwards, her two closest competitors.

To be honest Senator Clinton simply cannot give a speech, at least one that rouses people to their middle-American core; and this may actually be her unexpected downfall.

Jackson Supports Obama And????

Well the ground didn’t exactly shake when Rev. Jesse Jackson Jr., a two-time presidential candidate backed Sen. Barack Obama over the weekend. Although several civil rights leaders of yester-year, (i.e. Sharpton, Jackson, Belafonte and others) have been reluctant to openly support the rising young senator, Rev. Jackson’s endorsement represents a symbolic passing of the torch to an upwardly mobile generation of blacks who are less motivated by racial politics.

Facilitating The Changes of Your Life

Often just as soon as we get used to who we are, what we do and settled into both the routine and the stability of our lives, there comes an inkling, a desire and often a pressing if not urgent situation that forces our hand and moves us into a whole new dimension, a vibrantly different quadrant and a quirky divergent plane of life.

If you have ever taken the time to notice it, you will understand that life happens, occurs, unfolds and reveals itself in cycles or in seasons. After you’ve been through a few of these cycles you will begin to recognize and react faster than you did before and if you’ve really learned your lesson; you will become proactive in facilitating the changes of your life.
