Northleach Town Sign

No - the Northleach Town Sign has not been stolen! It has simply been removed for restoration work. Originally commissioned by Northleach with Eastington Town Council, it was painted by Chris Fothergill in 1996. Despite being cleaned thoroughly each year, the effects of the weather (and the sticky deposits from the tree above the dign) have taken their toll, and the paint and gold leaf are finally peeling off. It has fallen to Chris's lot once again to work on the sign, and he hopes to have the work completed by around the end of September. You can read more about the resoration work online in the blog:

http://NorthleachTownSign.wordpress.com

Management of the King George V playing field

KING GEORGE V PLAYING FIELD AND PAVILION

Since the closure of the Sports & Social Club on the 2 March, the Town Council has maintained the facility for the sports clubs and tried to catch up with the many outstanding repairs to the building at a cost of more than £6,000. Expected running costs for sports use alone will be about £200 per month. We are not prepared to spend any more of your money and have, therefore, been negotiating with a potential tenant for the bar area and the Clubs for payment of hire fees which fairly reflect the cost of their use. During the past 5 months, it has become clear that the costs involved in maintaining the building will be a considerable burden on the Town’s finances if a tenant and the sports users cannot provide enough income. We are now asking the sports clubs and the potential tenant for commitment to pay the fees and meet the terms of the lease offered in order to make the building viable. We have started to consider a replacement facility to meet the Town’s needs and to enhance the environment subject to enough commitment from residents and our success in fund raising. As the situation develops we will keep you informed but, in the meantime, if you have any comments please contact any Town Councillor or the Town Council Office.

clerk@northleach.gov.uk

Northleach with Eastington Town Council

Every four years Northleach (jointly with Eastington) elects eleven representatives to the Town Council. (The last election was in May 2003.) Their job is to look after local affairs - keeping the grass cut, the streets properly cleaned and lit, the stone walls mended - and in general to ensure that any concerns which affect people in the town are heard and as far as possible dealt with. They also try to ensure that the views and interests of the town are heard at District and County level when planning decisions come up, and particularly when long-term plans, and funding decisions, affecting the Cotswolds as a whole are being drawn up and discussed.....read more

Town Council Minutes - February 2009

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING - Tuesday, 28 April 2009 at 7.00 pm

Followed by the TOWN COUNCIL MEETING at 7.30 pm at the Westwoods Centre.

ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND
Telephone/Fax: 01451 861499
e-mail: clerk@northleach.gov.uk
