Team Brazil won the Aloha Cup, an Olympic style ISA specialty tag-team event.

      <title>BIGGER WAVES AND BIGGER SCORES AT DAY THREE OF COMPETITION AT THE QUIKSILVER ISA</title>

(Salinas, Ecuador) March 31, 2009 - The surf picked up today, with the south swell making its first solid appearance at the third day of competition of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Salinas, Ecuador. The left point at La FAE offered super fun four-to-five foot surf all day and Under 18 Girls and Under 16 Boys finished Round two. The Under 18 Boys also faced off on the south end of the beach at the secondary contest area for Round three and for the grueling, “life or death,” repercharge rounds. Today saw some of the highest scores of the event as well as the first eliminations of the contest with 32 surfers exiting the competition.

      <title>BIGGER WAVES AT THE QUIKSILVER ISA WORLD JUNIOR SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS</title>

(Salinas, Ecuador) March 30, 2009 - The Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships returned to Playas de la FAE today for the second day of competition. Girls Under 18 made their grand debut, running all 24 heats of round one at the secondary contest site – a right and left beach break south end of the beach. Contest organizers also held the remaining heats of round one and all of round two for Under 18 Boys at the main contest site at the point. The surf was two to three feet in the morning but steadily rose throughout the day to a solid four five feet by the afternoon. Long rides from the outside point to the beach were commonplace.

The International Surfing Association is proud to announce the appointment of its long time Vice President, Alan Atkins, as the Technical Director for the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship to be held in Salinas, Ecuador from March 28 until April 5.

The Technical Director position has been created to meet the ever growing technical and administrative demands within this ISA flagbearer event. Atkins will be overseeing technical issues in the most important and biggest surfing event for Juniors in the world. The Technical Director will now lead the contest management team of Contest Director and Head Judges.  Introduction of this new position is consistent with the ISA’s policy of working to provide a structure to support the professional independence of Judges when adjudicating at ISA events and delivering the best event to our sponsors and member national governing surfing bodies.
