Glasgow Metropolitan Photography students have staged a photo exhibition in Germany to mark 25 years since Glasgow was twinned with Nuremberg in Germany. 
 
Our students showcased their talents at the Nuremberg City Chambers on Friday 15th January – and Stephen Mather, Head of Photography and Printing is hoping the joint event with Berufsschule College will lead to many more photographic projects and even student exchanges.

      <title>A touch of Dutch at The Met</title>
      <description>
The college enjoyed a recent visit from Hospitality and Cookery staff from the Roc Monriaan, in the Hague, Netherlands on Thursday 22nd October. 

The Roc Mondriaan is one of the top 60 hotel schools in the world and the staff were keen to see how education was delivered in Scotland with Glasgow Met  the only educational establishment visited. During their visit to Scotland the group visited Gleneagles hotel, distilleries, Scotbeef, the Willow tearooms and some other visitor attractions.

HND Professional Cookery student Lynne Webster was the winner of a mountain bike after winning a raffle, by HIT (Hospitality Industry Trust) Scotland, which was part of a thank you to students of Glasgow Met for their hard work at a recent lunch in Glasgow's Radisson Hotel. The lunch, held on 3rd September, raised £30,000 with the help of the Lady Boys of Bangkok and Glaswegian comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli.

      <title>Charity and College on the pulse</title>
      <description>
The British Heart Foundation presented vital equipment to the college after students and staff raised £2,000 for the charity’s latest appeal.

Two defibrillators – machines that restart your heart after cardiac arrest – are now in place at the Met’s city centre campus with 23 staff members trained by the Scottish Ambulance Service to use the devices. And the college has pledged to raise even more cash for the BHF’s Saving Lives appeal and place defibrillators at each of its five campuses.

Furniture students at Glasgow Met recently unloaded the first locally sourced timber from the kiln at our Dornoch St campus.  This cherry, beech and oak would have normally found it’s way to landfill but, following collaborative projects with local authorities, these windblown hardwoods have now been saved and used to produce furniture.
